The Branch, along with two DOLE RO1 Field Offices in Pangasinan, carried out separate orientation seminars for industries in two key locations within the province of Pangasinan: Dagupan City and Tayug.
Both instances saw the Branch discuss to the participants the alternative dispute resolution mechanisms of the NCMB and basic concepts of productivity. Both the DOLE field offices talked about the general labor standards, with certain emphasis on the security of tenure, and the recently enacted law on occupational safety and health.
Dagupan City Administrator Atty. Farah Decano, in lieu of Mayor Belen Fernandez, encouraged the participants to give justice to their work, emphasizing the value of every minute they commit to their employment. “The book of Proverbs says those who do not work do not have the right to eat,” she said.
Tayug Mayor Atty. Tyrone Agabas took the opportunity to remind his constituents the value of good business and personal attitudes. “If we make our industries pleasing to the eye, then people will come to you for your goods and services,” Mayor Agabas said.
Both are very thankful to the learning sessions the Board and the DOLE have provided for their constituents as these will help them generate interest for investors to come into their area as a result of the expected better labor relations in the future.
